Stella Unica Judged Festival

Information & Regulations

The Stella Unica Judged Festival offers musicians of all ages a supportive performance experience, professional written feedback, and meaningful recognition in a welcoming concert setting. Participants are evaluated individually and do not compete against one another.

Judged Festival Format & Important Dates

The Judged Festival is conducted online through video submission.

Application Deadline: October 25, 2026

Live Winners' Concerts: November 15, 2026

Performance Sessions: 3:00 PM and 4:30 PM

Age Divisions & Maximum Performance Time

Participants will be assigned to an age division based on their age as of November 15, 2026:

  • Junior Division: Ages 5-8 — up to 5 minutes

  • Pre-Intermediate Division: Ages 9-11 — up to 5 minutes

  • Intermediate Division: Ages 12-14 — up to 7 minutes

  • Senior Division: Ages 15-18 — up to 7 minutes

  • Adult Division: Ages 19 and older — up to 7 minutes

Eligibility

The festival is open to instrumentalists and vocalists of all ages.

All classical instruments and voice are welcome.

Performance Categories

Solo Performance

  • Instrumental Solo 

  • Vocal Solo 

Chamber Music

  • Duet 
  • Trio 

  • Quartet or Ensemble

The concerto category is not offered.

Repertoire Requirements

Participants may perform one or more works or movements of their choice, within the maximum performance time.

Music from any historical period is welcome. Simplified arrangements are permitted.

Solo participants may perform one or two contrasting works.

Memorization is encouraged but not required.

Maximum performance time: 7 minutes

Festival Recognition

Every participant will receive:

  • Professional written feedback from the adjudicator 

  • An official Certificate of Participation 

  • Eligibility for special recognition awards for outstanding performances 

Each participating teacher will receive a Teacher Recognition Certificate.

Participation Fees

  • Instrumental or Vocal Solo: $50 per participant 

  • Duet: $35 per participant 

  • Trio: $30 per participant 

  • Quartet or Ensemble: $25 per participant 

Teachers performing with their students are exempt from participation fees.

Participation confirms acceptance of these regulations. Incomplete or ineligible applications may be declined.
