We are delighted to introduce Shahar Regev—an award-winning Israeli composer, performer, and educator—as a member of the Stella Unica International Young Composers Competition jury.

Regev’s music spans solo, chamber, orchestral, choral, and theatrical works. Her distinctive artistic voice combines expressive melodic writing with a contemporary musical language that is imaginative, engaging, and accessible to audiences.

In 2022, Regev received the prestigious ACUM Award in memory of Mark Kopytman for Black Bird for symphony orchestra and mezzo-soprano. Her other honors include the Felix Salzer Techniques of Music Award, the Jerusalem Institute of Contemporary Music Grant, and the Academic Excellence Award of the IAF Foundation. She has also been a finalist in the ASCAP composition competition and the Manhattan Prize for String Quartet.

Her music has been performed internationally by ensembles and orchestras in Israel, Europe, and the United States. Her artistic projects include collaborations with the Ra’anana Symphonette Orchestra, Ensemble diX, the Toscanini Quartet, the Moran Singers Ensemble, and the Manhattan School of Music Lab Chorus.

Regev earned her master’s degree in composition from Mannes School of Music, where she studied with Lowell Liebermann. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the Manhattan School of Music under the guidance of Susan Botti and J. Mark Stambaugh. She also serves on the Manhattan School of Music Precollege faculty, teaching composition, music theory, and ear training.
